LYRICS

The sun disappeared from the sky

the darkness enshrouded a dying man;
a degraded form
a public fool
a King – stripped of dignity

His eyes searched the darkness for love
His heart heard the laughter of mocking men;
“You Son of God, save yourself.
You king! – look at you now!”

His tears whispered undying love.
This blood spoke of life for the scoffing crowd
who spat the hate that hung him there to die.

Naked, bleeding, writing in pain,
He loved us (me)

He prayed “Forgive them”
even though we (I) nailed him there.

Helpless, abandoned, afraid
His tormented soul cried in agony;
“My God, my God, why have you gone?”
