WINTER REVERIE

Performance: Healey Willan Singers in Toronto

Breath turns to veil in cold and though the world is old
it wears a bright white gown even in this dark and dreary town.

Inside a golden glow against the shadowed snow
These moments slow to awe, warming,

deep within us something thaws.

We come here now in Winter Reverie,
We hold together hope and memory.
May this frozen season give us a warm reason
To gather with beloved guests,
To be those with whom we are so blessed.

May each guest carry as they go a memory

like haloed streetlight glow.
Good times they go so fast so slow the evening,

let us make it last.

We come here now in Winter Reverie,

We hold together hope and memory.
On these the coldest, shortest days,
I better see your candle light my way.
