Chico, the good Samaritan – he took the road to Jericho
under his big sombrero
riding on his little donkey, San Pedro.

Chico was a victim of racial hatred
no-one from the countryside liked him at all
Yet he was kind and gentle, forgiving of his neighbor;
he showed mercy –
he knew the way to love his fellow man.

Meanwhile, farther down the road
a poor man, with a heavy load
was ambushed by some bad banditos
who beat him and kicked him and took all he had.
Then they left him for dead
in the middle of Jericho Road.

Along came a priest, a holy Joe –
he saw the broken man – lie groaning on the road.
“Get out of my way because I’m going to pray!”

He passed on by the other side.

Along came a guy from the local tribe
who took a lot of pride in doing everything right.
He shielded his eyes from the unbearable sight.

Circling up in the heaven, vultures spotted carrion.
“Oh fellas, it’s time for din-din!”
Chico saw the birds and knew that something was wrong!

Flailing, poor donkey, Pedro
quickly to the rescue, Chico did go
He fell down by the poor amigo
“What happened? You’re bleeding! Who did this to you?
I will bind up your wound. I will find you a room.
You can stay until you’re feeling much better.”
