DEAN WEDEL
Dean Wedel (b. 1968) holds a Masters of Music (Conducting) from Boston University and Bachelor degrees from Concord College and the University of Winnipeg. His musical career as a student, conductor and soloist, has led him coast-to-coast, across the continent from Vancouver, to Winnipeg, to Boston and back to Abbotsford. He holds a Masters of Music (Conducting) from Boston University and Bachelor degrees from Concord College and the University of Winnipeg. Upon returning home to the West Coast, Dean has had the opportunity to conduct the Vancouver Chamber Choir at the National Conducting Symposium and he taught on the Music Faculty at Trinity Western University, before assuming his current position as Director of Choirs at MEI, 10 years ago, where he currently works with four choirs, theatre classes and the musical theatre productions. He is a member of Phi Kappa Lambda, and serves as an adjudicator and clinician. His singing credits include: the lead role of Gianni in Puccini’s opera “Gianni Schicchi”, and also the role of Vicomte Cascada in Lehar’s opera, “The Merry Widow”. Dean currently resides in Abbotsford, with his wife, Tracy and kids, Amelie and Mattias.
