LE VOYAGE D’UN OISEAU D’ÉTÉ

Il nous faudra laisser le nid; 

Mon arbre perd son beau feuillage; 

Ainsi, l’été est bien fini.

Le vent d’automne nous salue 

Avant qu’on quitte pour l’hiver; 

Déjà, je rêve de la vue 

Des champs, des monts et de la mer.

J’ouvris mes ailes avec fierté, 

Touchant enfin le grand ciel bleu, 

Tout en goûtant la liberté 

Sous un soleil tant radieux.

Je m’enivrai des airs champêtres 

Et des parfums des champs fleuris 

Sur des milliers de kilomètres,

Soon I’ll be leaving far away,

We hid until its ending wrath.
And when we saw the glowing clouds, 

We left behind those rainy shrouds.

Then by the end of that long flight, 

We landed near a sunny bight, 

Where, for a short time, we would sing, 

And we would rest until next spring.
