Solo Di Passaggio (Just Passing Through)

by Maria Molinari; Poet Elide Pagano

SATB a cappella – CP 2468 – duration 4:50

The text for ‘Solo Di Passaggio’ is by Italo-Canadian poet Elide Pagano who channeled her profound love for classical literature into poetry using it as a medium to weave together the shared threads of the human experience. Translated as ‘Just Passing Through’ Elide’s poem reflects upon the transient nature of our physical being and the immortality of the soul. Set for SATB choir the setting explores homophonic and countrapuntal textures within a tonal framework of extended harmonies and dissonance. The composer would like to thank Elide Pagano’s daughters Aurora & Lori for granting permission to set their mother’s poem.
