Angels from Heaven Came
by Jonathan Quick
SATB – CP 1118 – 6:15
A stunning setting of two texts from Luke’s Christmas story (the shepherds and the annunciation), this composition explores the role angels played in the drama of the birth of Christ. This composition won Vancouver’s Christ Church Cathedral Choir first place in the Canadian Contemporary Music category of the CBC Choral Competition in May 2006.
Loch Lomond
arr. Jonathan Quick
SATB – CP 1045 – 5:35
TTBB – CP 1046
SSAA – CP 1683
This is the most popular piece in the Cypress catalogue. The arrangement begins with a tenor (or soprano) solo, and develops into a rousing rhythmic chorus which drives to the end of the piece.
Sarah
arr. Jonathan Quick
TTB or SSA – CP 1137 – 3:05
SATB – CP 1140
This traditional Newfoundland folk-song has a romantic, bouncy melody with a chorus which also works great as a audience sing-along. This version might best be described as ‘generic’, and is fine for TTB or SSA! Also available in SATB (CP 1140).
Son de la Loma
arr. Jonathan Quick
SATB – CP 1067 – 3:40
This is a well-known Cuban song (you may have heard Exaudi perform it) with typical Latin rhythms. Jonathan has arranged it so the addictive flavour remains but the rhythms are not too hard! It’s great fun!
What Child is This?
arr. Jonathan Quick
SATB with piano and flute – CP 1138 – duration 3:10
TTBB with piano and flute – CP 1139
Jonathan’s lush arrangement of the traditional “Greensleeves” with a flowing piano part and lovely flute accompaniment.
