BETH HANSON
Beth Hanson hails from Thunder Bay, Ontario, and started performing in the family living room dressed in her 3 year old concert attire of hockey sweater and helmet (brother’s), cowboy boots (hers), six-shooter and holster (brother’s), and white dress gloves (mom’s). Since then, she has studied with Heather Morrison at Lakehead University (granted H.B.F.A), and Dr. Damjana Bratuz (granted M.Mus. Piano Perf.) at the University of Western Ontario.
She has been involved in music education and performing for most of her adult life. She has accompanied many soloists and ensembles over the years, such as The Woodstock Fanshawe Singers, Ardeleana, and Singing Out, and is presently employed by the Toronto District School Board as a full-time music teacher. She has undertaken choral arranging within the past decade, and feels fortunate to have several of her works to be performed by Elektra Women’s Choir, VOCA Chorus of Toronto as well as the amazing Singing Out chorus.
The Valley
by Jane Siberry, arr. Beth Hanson
SSAA with piano – CP 1611 – duration 3:45
SATB with piano – CP 2274
This heart-touching song, by popular singer Jane Siberry, is one of k.d. lang’s favorites. Beth really hits the mark with this lovely setting of a meaningful lyric. A great feature of your alto section.
