FULL THROATED EASE
by James Terry Lawson MD
DESCRIPTION:
“Of making many books there is no end,” wrote the author of Ecclesiastes, and
the student of singing may well be somewhat bewildered both by the variety of
the books offered for his instruction and by the different theories, sometimes
contradictory, which they expound.

It is an axiom that a good ‘natural’ voice is in itself insufficient. If the student is to
use it to the best advantage he must know how to control it. This control is
dependent upon the proper use of those physical factors which enable the
vibrations of the vocal chords to be translated into musical sounds. Those
sounds must not only be pleasing in themselves, but they must be able to
express the whole range of emotions which make up human experience.

The author of this little book has a two-fold claim to attention. As a qualified
doctor he knows all about human physiology, and as a singer of experience and
repute he has been able to prove, both to his own satisfaction and to that of his
audiences, that the principles he advocates really produce results.

The book is designed for students who, for one reason or another, have been
unable to obtain the help they need. Competent teachers will readily recognize
the sound principles involved, and appreciate its value as a teaching medium. It
is completely non technical in language, lucid in detail and graphically illustrated.
Therefore, it contains nothing which cannot be readily understood and profitably
applied by anyone who is prepared for the work which the author insists must be
faced.
